While all corners of the kitchen need to be super clean, here are some areas that really need our cleaning attention the most.
1. Kitchen counter
All food processing happens on the kitchen counter -- from the moment we put there our groceries, to the time we prepare our ingredients for cooking or baking. Because of all these activities, it's very common for this area to become very dirty. Make sure to wipe off the area after finishing any activity to prevent the buildup of dirt and the possible growth of germs and bacteria. You definitely don't want these unwanted elements to be part of the food you'll prepare.
You might think that the sink comes clean because water always washes off dirt on it. But water doesn't easily remove tough liquid like oil or grease, or even bacteria that may grow on it. Worse, these could contribute to bad odor in your kitchen. To ensure that the sink is always clean, you need to clean it with dishwashing soap or a cleanser like soft scrub. Also, make sure to dry off the sink every after use by wiping off excess water.
Kitchen cabinets are always closed to protect the items we hide in them. But this doesn't mean unwanted elements like dirt or insects can no longer enter them. To make sure that kitchen items are really protected, you need to periodically clean the insides of cabinets. As you clean the cabinets, you may also want to wash the items inside them just to make sure that they are all ready when you need to use them.
Appliances like refrigerators and microwave ovens can become kitchen nightmares when unclean. Since we process or keep our food here, it's only natural to see a lot of grease stains and spills inside these appliances. It could become so nasty inside them that the food we put there might be affected as well. On days that they are not full or heavily used, you may clean them with soap and water. Just make sure to turn them off before you proceed with the cleaning.
5. Under tables, lower cabinets or counters
Don't think that the areas under your kitchen counters, lower cabinets and tables are already spared from cleaning. You may not always notice it, but these spaces can accumulate dust and other particles like food crumbs. These might be blown into other areas of the kitchen -- even to your food. Always make sure to vacuum or sweep these hidden areas to ensure cleanliness in your kitchen.
